The Truth of the Matter

"Thanks." Jay said as he pulled the jacket on, feeling warmer.

Seth watched him for a few minutes, not entirely sure why he was even doing so. He turned to look at the clock as an excuse to look away.
"Um...I'm gonna go for a walk..." He suddenly said, unlocking the door with his key, disappearing outside and locking Jay in before he could even protest.

Jay pulled the jacket tighter with a sigh before picking up a book.

Seth came back a few hours later, looking scared and holding a hand over a spot on his right shoulder. He locked the door and sighed.

"Are you ok?" Jay asked as Seth walked in. He could tell Seth and scared and hurt.

Seth slowly looked over at Jay and nodded, being stubborn even though it was obvious he wasn't ok.

Jay got up and slowly went over to Seth.

Seth jumped slightly, nervous as Jay came closer, turning so that the arm he was holding was further away from him.

Jay backed up, "Sorry i just wanna help."

Seth sighed "I know..." He snapped impatiently, sick of his paranoia.
"...I know," He said again, softly this time. "Sorry."

"Its ok." Jay said as he took a small step forward. "What happened?"

Seth leaned against the door, tired and still scared. "Got...chased..." He said slowly. "Cut my arm on a wire fence..." He decided not to mention that he'd been trying to climb over the fence when it happened.

Jay nodded and went to get stuff to clean it with.

Seth slowly slid down the door, too tired to stand, and sat on the floor. He didn't even feel like moving to the couch. He kept his hand on his wound, not wanting to look at it.

Jay came back with some water a rag and stuff to clean it with.

Seth looked up at him, trying to figure out why he deserved help after he kidnapped and hit Jay.

Jay slid the jacket away and looked and the wound before starting to clean it.

Seth flinched slightly when Jay touched him, but forced himself not to move away. He looked away from what Jay was doing, pulling a face.

"Sorry i know it hurts but i'm almost done." Jay said. "My brother could do a better job fixing it."

"You have a brother...?" Seth asked, still not looking. "I take it he's a doctor then?"

Jay nodded, "Yeah he runs a free clinic for people who work the streets like i do."

"Oh..." Seth sighed, feeling guilty about what he'd done again. Jay's brother was probably worrying.

Jay gave a friendly smile to Seth.

Seth slowly smiled back, suddenly going pale when he sees his injury.

"Its ok." Jay said soothly. "I'll wrap it up now."
