...To See You Again

It was just another day in the life. Another day doing what he did to get by. Just another day selling himself to survive. Ever since he left home, he had been barely making enough to get by. He made enough for a place to live, some food and drugs. His showers were cold, but they got him clean. He was living the poor life, and he hated it. But he wouldn't go back home for anything. He wouldn't be underappreciated by people who were supposed to love him.

So much had happened to him since he left home. After leaving Camron, he slowly worked his way up the east coast until he got to New York City. He worked every night, his ass being ripped open by people who didn't care. People who probably had diseases. They paid him his $500 and left without a second glance, uncaring that he was bleeding. At most of his money went to heroin and crack/cocaine.

Most of the time, he didn't care about the people. He didn't care about the pain or the possibility of diseases. All he cared about was getting money for drugs. When he was on the drugs, he felt good, even when he was being ripped open, so he always shot up before he went to where they were.

Now, he was heading to a hotel for some fancy-smancy football player who made millions a year. Those types made him sick, but he would do anywork he could get.

He arrived at the hotel and went up to the room he was told the man was in. He was high, of course. He knocked on the door, leaning against the door frame, waiting for the man to open up.

Matt was living the life any man or woman could dream of. He had the dream career of every young boy. He was the quarter back for the New England Patriots, and he was the best they had. He made millions a year. Right now he was in New York for a few meeting with managers and advertising agencies.

As a kid, he was always favored opposed to his brother. He had no clue where the kid was. He wanted to look for him, but his father told him to just give up. He didn't want to, but he really didn't have a choice.

Tonight he was bored and decided to order some entertainment. He heard the knock on the door and opened it, seeing some underweight, high looking, scarred up junkie of a prostitute, not at all recognizing the young man. He frowned.

This is what they send me? He thought to himself, disappointed.

Jeff looked at the man and immediately recognized him to be his brother, Matt Hardy. His eyes widened in surprise and his mouth opened, though he couldn't form words. Een through his high, he could recognize his brother. But it was obvious that Matt didn't recognize him. "Mattie?" he said softly, looking up at him with child-like eyes. He had never really had the chance to be a child, but he had never really grown up, either.

Matt raised a brow at the look the kid was giving him. "Uh... I prefer Matt, but yeah that's smash name. Matt Hardy." He said. "So how about you come inside and we can do what you came here to do, yeah?" He said, a little weary of the kid. He didn't recognize him at all.

"Mattie," Jeff said softly, using his childhood nickname for his older brother. "It's me. It's Jeff," he whispered, eyes tearing up a bit. Even though Matt hadn't been the best brother to him, he still love him to pieces.

Matt frowned. He stepped back and took a good look at Jeff. He bit his lip, trying to remember. "I seriously don't think I've seen you before..." He trailed off before he looked into those big, green, glassy eyes. It was the same look he'd seen years ago, when he used to pick on his brother. He could remember those eyes tearing up, before his baby brother ran to his room when Matt said something hurtful. "J.. Jeffy?" He said, all of it starting to come back to him.

Tears fell down his face as he nodded. "Yeah, Mattie. It's me. It's Jeffy," he said softly. He wanted to step forward and touch Matt, make sure he was real. But he wasn't sure that he was allowed to. It had been so long since he was Matt.

Matt let out a breath, looking over Jeff, his heart going a million miles and hour. "Wow..." He breathed. "You grew up, didn't yeh, boy?" He said, running a hand through his hair. He was so shocked, he hadn't seen his brother in years. All he knew was that Jeff looked like a mess.

"Not really," Jeff said quietly, crossing his arms over his chest, wishing he had a sweater or something. He always covered himself up when he was uncomfortable. "Uh... How have you been?" he asked awkwardly, shifting from foot to foot, still standing in the hallway.

Matt suddenly pulled Jeff into a hug. "Shit darlin', I can't believe it's you..." He whispered, his eyes tearing up a bit. he missed his baby brother something fierce. Not matter how bad he treated him, he didn't realize how much he loved and missed the younger Hardy.

Jeff grunted at the forced Matt used with him, but hugged the larger man back nonetheless. "I know," he said softly, tears falling down his face in a steady stream. "I missed you," he said quietly.

Matt gently pulled Jeff inside and closed the door. He looked back over at Jeff, looking him over again. He looked like hell. "What happened to you?" He asked, not believing how bad Jeff looked.

"A lot," Jeff replied quietly, looking around the plush hotel suite. His apartment wasn't even this nice, and it was a bit bigger.

Matt sighed and nodded. "I can see that." He sighed. He saw how he looked so underweight. "Want me to order yeh something to eat?" He drawled. Now that he found Jeff, he wasn't letting his baby brother go.

"I don't wanna be a bother..." Jeff trailed off. He was used to not eating. Though food did sound good to him.

Matt chuckled softly. "It won't be, trust me. Look through the menu and tell me what you want. You look like you haven't eaten in ages." He said quietly.

Jeff but his lip and nodded, picking up the menu and looking through it. A lot of stuff sounded good, but he was from the south and he hadn't had good friend chicken since before his mom passed away. "Fried chicken," he said softly, pointing to it on the menu and looking at Matt.

Mat nodded and ordered the food for Jeff before sitting on the couch, gesturing to Jeff to sit wherever you wanted. "So yer a prostitute..." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. That's not the life he wanted for his baby brother.

"Uh... Yeah," Jeff replied awkwardly, sitting in a chair across from Matt, drawing his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around his legs. He rested his chin on his knees and looked at Matt, his eyes showing the pain and suffering of the last ten years of his life.

Matt sighed. "What age did you start?" He asked quietly, afraid of what the answer was. He regretted the way he treated his brother. A brother can forget how powerful his weapons are. And Jeff the perfect example. He couldn't take it all back.

"When I left," Jeff answered, casting his eyes downward, ashamed to look at Matt. Matt always had a promising future. Jeff? Not so much.

Matt's heart dropped. He was too young for that... "Fifteen..." He whispered to himself. Too young. Too innocent to experience the kind of life he was living. "And what are you shooting' up?" He asked. He wasn't stupid. He knew Jeff was on some kind of drug by now. It was written all over his tortured body.

Jeff shifted uncomfortably. He knew Matt had noticed, had expected the question. He was just... Ashamed of what he had become. "Heroin and crack," he replied quietly. So quiet, he didn't know if Matt heard him.

Matt sighed and looked down. "Well.. why don't you go take a hot shower before your food comes. You look like you could use it. And I'll find some clean cloths for you." He said softly.

"Alright," Jeff said softly, standing up and walking to the bathroom. He stripped down, not looking into the mirror. He never did. He didn't like what he saw. He sighed and turned the water on hot, stepping in and sighing at the warmth.
